- Describe moral distress and its risk factors
- Recognize signs and symptoms of moral distress in ourselves and our peers.
- Describe approaches to heal moral distress
Presenter: Dr. Maureen Mayhew
Dr. Maureen Mayhew has practiced medicine and public health for more than30 years in several Canadian provinces and in low-income countries. She trained in family medicine at McGill, in public health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and in research methods at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She is a program physician in BC’s Physician HealthProgram, a clinical professor at UBC, and a certified Life & Leadership coach. She uses reflective writing and narrative medicine in her own life and in workshops. Her goal is to promote healing, self-compassion, and wellbeing. She is nearing the completion of a memoir on her own growth over a ten-year period in Afghanistan.
