National Physicians Day, May 1st

To the valued Medical Staff of Burnaby Hospital and Community:

May 1, 2021 has been declared as National Physicians’ Day, in honor of the dedication and thoughtful compassionate health care provided by physicians everywhere in this great country.

The Canadian Medical Association chose this date because it is the birthday of Dr. Emily Stowe (Canada’s first female to practice medicine and a founding member of the women’s rights movement).

Physicians work collaboratively to strengthen the health care system by utilizing their unique skills as caregivers, teachers, and advocates of quality improvement. They are scientist-researchers and innovators that continuously strive to provide excellence in the care of their patients.

Burnaby Hospital and Burnaby Hospital Medical Staff Association unite with the CMA in celebrating the contributions of medical staff that work hard every day to serve our patients and their families.

Join us in a salute to these Champions of Health Care, as they help our community to achieve the goals of: Better Health, Best in Health Care and Engaged Medical Staff Providing Exceptional Care.

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul Johar, MD, CCFP(EM), MHA

President, Burnaby Hospital MSA

Dr. Sarah Ostler, CCFP, MD.

Medical Director, Burnaby Hospital
