About the Speakers

John Askin, LL.B

John Askin is the founder of Wealth Strategy Group and is a current member of the Vancouver Estate Planning Council and the Canadian Tax Foundation. Prior to founding Wealth Strategy Group in 1998, John was a tax lawyer for 15 years in Alberta and British Columbia.

He currently consults with clients and professional advisors throughout North America in the areas of wealth strategy and protection planning. John is also the author of the book “For Love, Not Money”—an in-depth look at the importance of wealth preservation solutions based on an independent, comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and holistic approach for professionals.

Alphil Guilaran and Bobby Ning

Alphil Guilaran and Bobby Ning, CFP are the founders of Financial Literacy Counsel and the IFSE Institute’s “2020 Financial Literacy Champion of the Year”.

They began teaching money management to doctors in 2003 through UBC Medicine and were contracted in 2010 by Vancouver Coastal Health to provide financial education and coaching to healthcare professionals.  FLC programs are also delivered through BC Doctors of Optometry, Resident Doctors of BC, UBC CPD, UBC PGME Transition into Practice, BC Anesthesiology Society, Vancouver Division of Family Practice, UBC MBA and Continuing Legal Education Society of BC (CLE-BC).
